Amaal Younes is a multidisciplinary creative born in Cairo, Egypt, the city that is the base of her creative schooling and that birthed a love for people and crafts in every aspect of her work. Starting from schooling at the École Oasis Internationale, the IB Arts program gave space for her love for all visual and tactical ways to express emotions and questions and set the foundation of creative expression using painting, photography, sculpture and installation. This led to her attendance of the Applied Sciences and Arts program at the German university in Cairo in 2012 where she learned the fundamentals of graphic, product and media design.
After graduating in 2017, her career started pursuing her pre-masters project, grain studio. A project co-founded with Hanya Gaafar, for the love of craftsmanship and bookbinding, and approaching entrepreneurship from a creative minds view. Amaal took the studio’s vision one step further when Hanya decided to go another direction and added her love for community and reforming activism to create the team that would be the heart and would have grain. Alongside the studio, another passion she pursued individually and in collaboration was her love for branding, visual identity and website design work. Working both individually and in collaboration with other designers to create brand identity and graphic work for businesses across the F&B, retail, Mental Health and more.
After a difficult decision to put all that on pause, she decided to move to the Washington, DC in 2025 to re-establish and expand her practice and launch Hands of Wanderer, a personal project of creative expression and exploration through makings and stories.
